ExWell is Starting in Cork!
We are delighted to confirm that ExWell, in partnership with UPMC, is coming to Cork this April.
If you have any long-term medical condition or if you have cancer or if you are preparing for planned surgery of any sort, you may benefit greatly from joining ExWell for a few weeks, a few months or forever!
What do we do?
ExWell is a social enterprise (not for profit) that offers structured, supervised exercise programmes in community settings for people with many different medical conditions. We also have an online option. The classes involve aerobic, strength and balance components.
Who can attend?
Anyone with a long-term medical problem can attend. We cater for all levels of ability and being weak does not mean you cannot attend. In fact, people in this category do better than others in relative terms. Our approach is ‘what can you do when attending?” and not ‘can you attend?”
How do I arrange to attend?
Ask your doctor or health care professional to send a referral to ExWell. The details on how to apply are here.
Where is the venue in Cork?
We will be running classes in the Mardyke Arena and also in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. In each venue there will be classes twice weekly and these will be daytime classes. The exact schedules are not yet confirmed.
What’s the cost?
The cost will be €60 per month (€7.50 per class). This will change (to a lower cost) if we secure HSE funding support in the future.
What next?
After we receive your referral, we will contact you to offer you a place at our first induction session which takes place on Wednesday the 17th April '24
